I told you that I was confused over Nokia launching the Nokia N97 Mini at the Nokia World Event 2009 and today I cam across a video posted by Mark over at The Nokia Blog. He has spoken to guys over at Nokia and they tell us why Nokia came up with the Nokia N97 Mini, when there is already a Nokia N97 in the market. The insights are nice. Check out the video below. Thanks Mark!!
HTC Hero, which was launched by HTC in June 2009 has made its way to India and guys over at Cellpassion were at the launch event. HTC Hero's hardware is similar to that of HTC G1 and HTC magic but the form factor is more alluring. The handset has support for Adobe Flash, which iPhone still lacks and its also sports a 3.5 mm standard headphone jack. Other features include, a 5 meg snapper, 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB ROM, 288 MB Ram, Wi-Fi, GPS, Compass, microSD slot. To reduce finger prints and smudges on the phone, HTC Hero is Teflon coated and has the features like Widgets, which can be customized to suit your needs and the Sense feature can be used to switch between different user profiles, it can also be used to switch between different widgets available. With Hero, HTC has focused more on the customization part from a mobile user's point of view. Interactive home screens, widgets and customization are some of they key things today you will come across many of the smart phones that are available in the Indian market. HTC Hero will be available at a price of 31,990 INR across India except Maharashtra, where it will be priced at 34,600 INR due to the high sales tax on mobile phones. If you has all the time in the world, then you can check the 10 minute long HTC Hero launch video @ London. Check out the Hero First look video below.
The Nokia N97 Mini was finally launched by Nokia at the NW Event 2009. The N97 Mini had leaked many times before the actual launch and people were happy to see a toned down, smaller version of the Nokia N97 in the form of N97 Mini. When the Mini actually released, you must have noticed in the pictures as well as the videos that are floating around the web, that its not that small as compared to its big brother, N97. The major change is that the D-Pad on the N97 has been replaced by small and good looking arrow keys on the N97 Mini with well laid out QWERTY keypad. In its ads and promo videos, Nokia says that N97 Mini is shorter and slimmer but do you really think it is, cause I don't think so!! N97 Mini loses the lens cover, which is there in the N97. Overall size wise there is not much change but yeah Nokia has reduced the size of the Mini's touch screen and max memory it can be beefed up to is 16GB. Rest of the features are almost like the Nokia N97. So if the N97 Mini does well in the market and people like it, then why will they buy the N97. Nokia has priced the N97 Mini around 450 Euros i.e. 31,000 INR, which is really bullshit pricing. With the overall features like the Nokia N97 and pricing so high, Nokia has actually confused Nokia lovers after launching the N97 Mini.
