With questions being asked about Nokia's loyalty to its Symbian OS, it was confirmed by Nokia that they were loyal to the Symbian OS and Maemo is just an OS for them and though its important for their smart devices portfolio, they will keep on releasing Symbian based devices. This has again been confirmed by Nokia that Symbian is their main OS for most of the phones and Maemo as an OS will be available only on high-end devices. Nokia launched the N900 Internet tablet at the recently concluded Nokia World 2009. The N900 runs on Maemo 5 OS, which is based on Linux and will also have SIM card functionality this making it capable of making voice communications. Nokia is now pitching Symbian OS and Maemo OS as two big OSs for smart phones and mobile devices.

Spotted: Nokia Phone With 12 MP Camera

Posted: 04 Sep 2009 04:06 AM PDT

It was rumored to be coming in the Nokia World 2009 but it did not, there have been talks about It coming every month but nobody ever got any pics or any info about the Nokia phones with a 12 meg snapper until today. Chilko of Mobile Bulgaria has got his hands on a picture that shows a Nokia phone with 12 meg snapper. Check out the picture below, Cellpassion picked it from Chilko's Twitter account. To me, the phone looks like a more enhanced version of the N93i and the back paneling is pretty unusual.

AirTel To Launch 3G Service by October 2010

Posted: 03 Sep 2009 07:42 PM PDT

AirTel.jpgAfter both BSNL and MTNL launched their 3G services in India, its time for the number one mobile service provider, AirTel to jump into the game of 3G in India, which is getting delayed hell lot of times. Bharti Airtel has said that if everything goes well as planned they would be launching 3G services in India by October 2010. The auctions for the 3G spectrum @ 3,500 Crore INR will get done by November. AirTel will have the spectrum by next year Jan or Feb and then they would be launching their 3G services in India. 3G, which has become an old story in many countries, has reached India very late. Though BSNL aggressively promoted it 3G services and also entered into partnerships with leading mobile handset players, its 3G services failed to generate any uptake. This is not surprising because most of the people who use BSNL use their phones just for making calls and sending SMS, 3G where as gives you fast Internet and lots of mobile Value added services in your hand but majority of Indian consumers are yet to get used to this use of mobile phones. In big metro cities, AirTel's 3G will pick up given its user base and people's knowledge about 3G and its advantages.
