[Nokia World 2009] Know the Nokia N97 Firmware 2.0 #NW09

Posted: 02 Sep 2009 08:22 PM PDT

N97 2 copy.jpgWhen Nokia announced the Nokia N97 Mini yesterday at the Nokia World Event, they also spoke about how they have been collecting feedback on the big brother N97 and trying to improving it. As a result of that, Nokia will be coming up with a new firmware for the Nokia N97 called N97 Firmware 2.0, which has some significant enhancements as compared to the current firmware. The most important being that it will give the Nokia 97 kinetic scrolling feature. So how different is kinetic scrolling, well its like scrolling your list of contacts, songs, messages, music, photos, applications lists etc smoothly without any lags. In the current N97, you have to drag the scroll bar to move the list up and down. So it like you scroll on the iPhone, thats what you call kinetic scrolling. The other enhancements include new widgets that can sit on your home screen like CNN, ESPN Soccer and they will also have an enhanced Facebook widget, Kewl!! Nokia has also worked on the new 2.0 firmware in terms of stability and performance. New firmware will also have increased internal memory. The new firmware will have updated versions of Nokia Maps, Nokia Messaging and Nokia's N Gage service. Seems that the new Nokia N97 with 2.0 firmware will be pretty cool in terms of features. Don't worry you can also upgrade your existing N97 to this firmware in the month of October 2009.
