Posted: 15 Nov 2009 06:08 PM PST

Mobile Phone based advertisements is one of the biggest influencers for an Indian car buyer. OEM's like Tata, Hyundai and Maruti who are more into small cars have taken the help of mobile phone advertisements to lure their customers. Today's Indian consumer is more information hungry. Anytime we need to buy a product e go online to check what are the options available and what existing buyers are saying about it. This stands true for Cars and that is the reason, car OEM's in India who are more into small cars are taking the help of digital medium like the Internet (Social media - Facebook, Twitter; comparison sites), mobile phone based ads to promote their products among customers. A recent survey showed that mobile phone ads constitute 31% of buying decisions when it comes to Indians; globally this number is just 8%. Internet and mobile phone based text ads are low cost forms of advertising that are reaping benefits for the car companies.

Nokia is all set to launch the smaller sibling of the N97, the N97 Mini in India on 16th or 17th November 2009. N97 Mini was first announced and showcased by Nokia at the Nokia World Event 2009. I spotted the Mini few days back on the Nokia India website and since then I had a feeling that the N97 Mini might be coming soon. I had gone to one Nokia priority dealer recently and he told me that Nokia will be launching the N97 Mini coming Monday or Tuesday and it will be priced somewhere between INR 22,000 to 25,000. N97 Mini is the smaller version of the Nokia N97 with no D-Pad, reduced battery and 8 GB internal memory. The 3.2 inch screen is a bit smaller than the N97. The Nokia N97 Mini started hitting the retail shelves in the last week of October, world wide. N97 Mini will be loaded with the Firmware 2.0 that is available on the N97. Firmware 2.0 supports, Kinetic scrolling and improved touch screen with better battery performance.

Update: The Nokia N97 Mini will be launched in Bangalore on November 17th 2009 at the Lalit Ashok. I will be there most probably.
