Finally the iPhone is coming to China in the month of October. Apple must be really excited about getting its popular iPhone 3G to a market, which is number one in terms of mobile phone users. Apple will be bringing the iPhone to China thanks to its deal with Unicom. The details of the deal are out and Apple wont be taking a revenue share by selling the iPhone by itself in China (like it does in other countries). In China, its a different rumor, China Unicom has bought 5 million iPhones for around 1.45 billion USD from Apple. Unicom will be selling the 8GB version for apprx 300 USd and the 16GB for 700 USD. So overall the deal looks good for Unicom as it will also charge customers for the data plan. Now the big question here is that there are already more than a million iPhones who have made their way to Chine through the gray market route, so why will a mobile phone user go for China Unicom's plan, he/she will buy a gray market version and use it on any service providers network. |
