TN Map.JPGRecently formed GSM JV, Tata-DoCoMo has announced the launch of its services in Tamil Nadu. Earlier it was indicated that their services will be rolled out all over India starting from South India. With the Indian GSM market being dominated by bigwigs like AirTel and Vodafone, Tata-DoCoMo is offering some differentiating services to its prospective customers. It is focusing on exact air time by charging cost/second. Users will be charged 1 paise/second thus they end up paying exactly for the time they have been on the call. This will be same for Value Added Services that the company will be offering. For starters the company is giving free miss call alerts and free voice mail with no monthly rentals. This is a good strategy by Tata-DoCoMo to lure new users to use its GSM network. There is one more insider news about a new company called Rainbow surveying the South Indian market for the launch of its GSM based services. Rainbow is the JV between an Indian and a Russian company.

If you are a hardcore Nokia fan and love their Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, then you might be happy after reading this story. Winamp has now made available, a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic skin for your player, which looks really cool. If you ask me, most of the Winamp skins look pretty good, so whats so special about this skin apart from having normal playback, file select, shuffle, repeat etc functions. Well, this skin is pretty interactive just like your Nokia 5800. If you remember, Nokia 5800 comes with built-in applications that let you play the Piano, Guitar and Drums. Well this skin will let you do the same, so while your song is playing in the background you can activate the skin's piano, guitar or drums. Well, i have tried it and have realized that, unless you are some super sonic mouse clicker and know how to play these instruments, you will be just screwing around with the song playing in the background. But none the less, you should try it once to get a hang of it. Download the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Skin for Winamp. If you are one of the losers who does not know what Winamp is, then you can download the latest Winamp player here.

Intel and Nokia Get Together for Moblin and Maemao

Posted: 23 Jun 2009 07:25 PM PDT

With the recent news of Intel winning Nokia as a customer, everybody was of the opinion that this was Intel's attempt get a head start in the world of mobile phones. But there is more than mobile phones in this relationship between these two companies, who are leaders in their own domain, though in the recent times they are being challenged by their closest competitors. Intel will ow be licensing Nokia's HSPA capable 3G modem IP and see how it can be used in future mobile devices. Intel these days is aggressively campaigning (in India, don't know about other countries) about how the company is busy making humanity's future. Anyway, both these companies will also be working on their Linux babies, Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin. Maemo is a version of Linux that powers Nokia's Internet tablets. Moblin is a Linux based system that is capable of running on Intel Atom processors. Intel's Atom processors are used mostly by companies like Dell, Acer, HP in their Nebooks. There is a possibility that Nokia will use the Moblin project along with its Maemo and come up with a tablet that can be more than being just an Internet Tablet....are we talking about Netbooks here??
