Fastest iPhone of the Three..iPhone 3GS

Posted: 08 Jun 2009 12:11 PM PDT

Apple's World Wide Developer Conference kicked off today at 10.30 PM India time at San Fransisco, US. This conference will go on for 4 days and will end on June 12. One of the most awaited device of the year 2009, the new Apple iPhone was launched at the WWDC today, last year it was called as the iPhone 3G. The new iPhone will be called the iPhone 3GS and not the iPhone Video. So my guess was wrong but I still find the name weird. The S in 3GS stands for speed and this new iPhone is the fastest of the lot. This times Apple has made the user experience on the new iPhone faster. The phone has a 3 mega pixel snapper (not 3.2 mega pixel) with auto focus, white balance and video capturing feature (30 fps VGA quality...hmm not impressed) (you can tap the object and the camera will focus on it), 7.2 mbps HSDPA connectivity. Voice control commands to make calls, create playlists, dial numbers, shuffle. The rumor of iPhone having a digital compass was also true, as the new iPhone 3GS has one. The compass integrates itself with the maps on iPhone. The new iPhone has hardware encryption, encrypted iTunes back-up and greatly improved battery life. [Via]

It also has all the features that were showcased in the iPhone OS 3.0, landscape mode, MMS, Cut-copy-paste, support for 30 languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Thai) [thats really cool], keyboard in landscape and portrait mode. The 16GB version of the iPhone 3GS will be available at $199 and 32GB will be at $299 but this is in the US and best part is that Apple will be keeping the iPhone 3G and will be selling it at $99. The phone will be available in late June in the US and will reach 80 countries in August 2009. I hope India is one of these 80 countries.Last year when Apple launched iPhone 3G in India, it priced it at a premium and the phone didn't do well as expected to do in a mobile crazy country like India. I hope this time Apple uses some good pricing strategy for the Indian market. India is and will be a great market for the iPhone and Apple's share in the mobile phone space will increase in India if it prices the phone at a correct price point.

Apple iPhone has become so popular that Apple has sold 40 million iPhones and iPod Touch till now and with the introduction of the new iPhone, this number will grow by leaps and bounds.

Xperia X2 Leaked With Specifications

Posted: 08 Jun 2009 03:31 AM PDT

x2.jpgThis is the leaked picture of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, the second phone in the Xperia Portfolio. X2 pics had leaked earlier. The first, X1, didn't do that well especially in India where it was priced around 44,000 INR, which is kind of huge cost for someone to shell out for a mobile phone. Maybe that is the reason X1 didn't sell well in the Indian market (Sony Ericsson should have learnt something from the failure of iPhone, which launched in India at a very high price point. Anyway, Sony Ericsson is now on the verge of releasing the X2, which like the Xperia X1 will run on customized version of Windows Mobile 6.5. The two major upgrades, which the X2 will see over the X1 are, 3.5 inch WVGA OLED touch screen and 8 mega pixel snapper. X2 will feature a faster processor and RAM is beefed up to 512MB. The phone will also come with a support to Windows Mobile 7, which means that an upgrade is possible. [Via]

iPhone Video Will be Called iPhone 3GS....I dont Think So!!

John from Daring Fireball (one site that follows Apple very closely) has come across some new piece of information about the iPhone that will be launched today/tonight India time at the WWDC 2009. According to him, the new iPhone will be called as iPhone 3GS and not the iPhone Video (I still believe that it will be called iPhone Video, the name also sound pretty catchy).Apple will be releasing a 32GB model along with a 16GB one and the phone will have video recording functionality but there is no confirmation about if it will have a front camera. The currently available 3G iPhone will be sold at $99 and will be called as a lower end model of the iPhone. Lets see if any of these rumors come true today/tonight. But I still feel that iPhone 3GS does not make sense as it makes sense to have the name iPHone Video, as video recording is one of the most needed feature of the iPhone and this time Apple is giving it to us. What say, iPhone freaks??? [Via]
