After announcing its re-entry into the highly local-players dominated Korean mobile market, Nokia has launched Nokia 6210 Navigator in the Korean market. Nokia had launched the 6210 in 2008 and you can check out my review of the Nokia 6210 Navigator. Nokia has re-branded the phone as Nokia 6210s for the Korean market and it does not have Navigation capability due to the regulations in the KOrean market. The phone will be available in Korea through KTF shops. But, I am really puzzled to see why Nokia has launched this phone in the Korean market. Koreans are tech savvy guys and they already have phones from Samsung and LG which are pretty high-end as compared to Nokia 6210S. Anyway, Nokia 6210s is a Symbian S60 phone with 3.2 mega pixel snapper with auto focus, 120MB on-board memory, 8GB micro SDHC card support, 64MB RAM, Accelerometer, Sensor, Fast and responsive UI, front camera for video calling, Stereo FM, Bluetooth with A2DP technology. Nokia has also announced to sell WCDMA 3G devices in Korea. The phone is manufactured by Nokia at its manufacturing facility in Masan, Korea.

Nokia Re-entering South Korean Market

Korea_Nokia.JPGAsian countries like Korea and Japan are hard nuts to crack especially if you are a foreign player trying to sell your products and services. Even big companies vouch for this fact. Nokia, after moving out of the Korean market, is again set to re-enter the same by entering into an agreement with KT Freetel Ltd. Sony Ericsson did its South Korean market debut last month and now its Nokia who is doing the re-entry. The Korean mobile phone turf is dominated by local players like Samsung and LG, who also are well-known globally. Its tough for companies like Nokia and Sony Ericsson to get the share of wallet of Korean mobile phones users looking at the market shares, which Samsung and LG command. Last year, Korea Times reported of Korean allowing the sale of foreign made mobile handsets withing Korea. There was also news about Nokia trying to enter Korea and was in talks with SK Telecom. But now Nokia is going ahead with KT Freetel Ltd, which is one of the main competitors of SK telecom. Nokia will be launching a third-generation handset in Korea. After a failed attempt in 2001, Nokia is now all set to enter the Korean mobile turf after almost 8 years and its going to meet some top mobile phone companies that compete globally with Nokia but are strong in the Korean market.
