Samsung is going to launch 13 touch screen phones this year. No, this announcement is not official but these phones were leaked at a press event at a dealers place in Amsterdam. The most interesting ones of these 13 phones are, the Samsung Omnia HD that will run on the Windows Mobile 6.5, the current Omnia HD runs on Symbian and the other interesting phone is Samsung's first Android based touch screen phones. The Samsung Android based handset will have a 5 mega pixel snapper. The rest of the 11 phones are all touch screen handsets with features unknown, two of which will be business focused handsets with QWERTY keyboard. There is also a speculation that apart from the these handsets (Omnia HD with WinMo 6.5, Android Phone, two QWERTY Enterprise Phones) the other phones that belong to this major leak are Samsung Innovate Upgrade and a 12 mega pixel touch screen phone from Samsung. Lets see whats there in store.

GSMArena got hold of the pics of this phones via AllAboutPhones but the pics are very blurry to give you out any details of these leaked handsets.

Mother of All Rumors: Ericsson Moving Out of the Sony Ericsson JV??

Posted: 18 Mar 2009 09:46 AM PDT

This came to me as a shocker. Ericsson, which is one of the JV partners in Sony Ericsson handset business is rumoredly moving out of the venture. I read this at the Boy Genius Report. BGR says, a German magazine has reported that Ericsson wants to pull out its stake from Sony Ericsson and concentrate on its core competency, back-end network, telecommunications infrastructure and Sony, the other JV partner, has expressed its interest to buy Ericsson's stake. I am not sure how true is this rumor but if this happens it will be pretty shocking as Sony Ericsson as a company has launched some pretty good phones till now and an exit from the market like will be surprising. When asked to spokesperson from Sony Ericsson, there were no comments and it was said to be just another speculation. I guess it is a mother of all rumors.

Dev_summit_Nokia.jpgNokia has announced that this year's developer summit will be held in Monte Carlo, Monaco on April 28 and 29. These developer summits from Nokia bring together developers, network operators and other business partners of Nokia. This summit will focus on latest trends in applications and content development and also on opportunities for integration and distribution of Nokia's mobile phones and services. Like all the mobility related event this one will also be cramped up with developers as everybody wants to see what is Nokia showcasing in this year's developer summit, especially after the launch of the 3.0 version of the iPhone OS, biggest threat to Nokia's smart phones. The highlights of this year's summit include, updates on publishing to the Ovi store for developers, educating the developers on latest Nokia technologies and platforms like Ovi, Flash Lite, Web Runtime, QT, maemo, special focus on Nokia touch screen devices (means that Nokia is coming up with more touch screen devices this year). Nokia had already hinted toward coming up with more touch screen devices in 2009.

This summit sounds to be pretty interesting, especially if you are a developer. I will be keeping a close watch on the happenings at the summit to see what all interesting stuff is coming our way from Nokia.
