Samsung launched its fully touch screen Omnia HD at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress 2009. Unlike the first Omnia, Omnia HD runs on Symbian S60 v5 and not on Windows Mobile. The phone is sleek with HD resolution that makes viewing on the phone a bliss. Apart from that it is the first phone available in the market today that has the capability to record video in HD, who needs HD camcorders now!! Anyway, the rest of the features include, GPS, DivX support, HDMI support, 3.5mm standard headphone jack, Wi-Fi connectivity with DLNA. Its your pocket home theater system out there. N97 5.jpg

Nokia's first ever N Series touch screen phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard, the N97, is all set to be released on June 23rd. Nokia launched this multimedia monster in the first week of December last year and the phone was also showcased at CES 2009 and also at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress 2009. The phone will be coming to stores around June 23rd and will be priced INR. 55,000 or 1065 USD, thats some high price man, dont know how many will buy it in India.

The specs of N97 are pretty impressive with,
  • S60 5th edition OS
  • 3.5in touch screen with 640x360 (16:9) resolution and Haptic feedback
  • slide out QWERTY keyboard
  • 5 Megapixel snapper with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash
  • DVD Quality Picture Output
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • A-GPS
  • Nokia Maps 3.0 (topographical maps, satellite imagery, 3D renderings of popular buildings in over 200 cities)
  • Built-in compass (tells you which side of the map, that is loaded, you are facing)
  • N Gage Support
  • HSDPA
  • 32GB of built in flash memory
  • microSD card slot upto 16 GB supported ;-)
  • FM-radio
  • FM-transmitter (for sending music from the phone to a radio tuner)
  • 3.5mm headphone jack which can also be used as a TV out-socket.
Some of the other impressive features of this phones are a home screen with dashboard of your activities and widgets that sit on your home screen. The homescreen can be customized and seems to draw inspiration from the Panel kind of approach from Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. The phone's keyboard actually moves with the help of hinges and not sliders.

Check out the N97 Slider Video and see how it works:
