Pics and Specs - Sony Ericsson W995 Posted: 15 Feb 2009 06:24 PM PST Remember Hikaru, the phone from Sony Ericsson that was surfacing once in a while. Well Sony Ericsson has removed the cover from Hikaru and made it official during the start of the Mobile World Congress 2009 at a press event in Barcelona. The phone will be called W995 and Hikaru was the name just for the prototype, I guess, like "Idou", which was also showcased at this press event. As you must have guessed by now, W995 is a flagship Walkman music phone from Sony Ericsson. [Pics via: SE-Community]. Check out the specifications, - 3.5 mm audio jack on the top - stereo speakers - 8.1 mega pixel camera with auto focus - 118 MB of built in memory - bundled with 8 GB M2 card - 2,6 inch 262K color QVGA scratch resistant TFT screen - three dedicated music control keys + volume keys +camera key - available in 3 colors: Progressive Black / Cosmic Silver / Energetic Red - A-GPS - Google Maps - Way finder Navigator - Wi-Fi - DLNA Certified - full PS3 - kickstand on the back of the phone - Media Go - measures 97×49×15 mm - weighs 113 grams The phone will be available in the second quarter of 2009. With 2008 not as good as anticipated for Sony Ericsson, it will be trying hard in 2009, to woo users to its range of Walkman and Imaging phones.

First Symbian Foundation Smartphone Posted: 15 Feb 2009 06:12 PM PST The Mobile World Congress has kicked-off in Barcelona and along with the W995, which was codenamed Hikaru before, Sony Ericsson has showcased it first S60/Symbian foundation based phone by the name, "Idou". It is pronounced as "I Do". This phone has a very interesting name and a the specs are pretty impressive. This phone was showcased by Sony Ericsson at a press event in Barcelona. The phone is not available officially but its just a prototype. The phone's Wi-Fi and GPS is DLNA certified with a 3.5 inch screen and 12 mega pixel snapper. The phone has the UI from the Symbian Foundation, which was formed last year.
