Coming Soon: 2 Flying Action Games For iPhone

Posted: 09 Feb 2009 03:03 PM PST

There are two very exciting flying action games lined up for release. SciFly II by Licentia Software and another unnamed game from Game Resort.

Both look pretty good and exciting, we got hold of game play videos of both which will give you fair amount of info about both the games.

SciFly II Gameplay Video

SciFly II will place the fast-paced aerial combat of its predecessor into a truly massive world where pure exploration is as fun as the action. Conquer chunks of this world to increase your in-game wealth and invest in customizing your aircraft for greater weapons, armor and boosters.

Flying Game From Game Resort

The game consists of 2 modes Arcade and Race:

In Arcade, you basically try to shoot down as many enemy targets as you can to get the highest score. Ships spawn crates (yes, good old crates) which you can pick up and drop on a specific target for additional points.

In Race mode, there are 9 different courses where you have to fly through a series of hoops in sequence. We use the same mechanics (shoot stuff down, pick up and deliver crates) except that it gives you a time bonus.

We will update you as soon as these games get release in App Store.

Two iPhone Apps Related To Politics Gets Denied From Apple Store

Posted: 08 Feb 2009 08:43 PM PST

Apple denies loads of apps from App Store, and their approval process is somewhat controversial. In recent months two iPhone apps related to politics were denied from Apple App Store which were talked about a lot in the iPhone community.

Although there is huge outcry from people around the world regarding the freedom which should be given to iPhone app developers and insufficient reasons given by apple regarding the banning.

Here are the two apps which got denied:

MyShoe

This app was created by a pakistani app developer and basically in this app you can throw shoes at famous figures including George Bush and Osama Bin Laden.

myshoe

MyShoe app description and how it works:

1. You hold the IPhone like a shoe,
2. Press on Start button
3. System, starts saying 3, 2, 1 and Go
4. You, swing your arm ( as you are throwing ) without throwing.
5. Application will figure out how hard did you throw the shoe at him and it may or may miss the cartoon.
6. It shoes the total number of shoes that have been hit at the cartoon.
7. We started with Bush, but next in line were Bin-Laden and other figures as well ( apparent from the splash screen).

The reason which led to app removal which was received by App developer was “we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it contains content that ridicules public figures

According to us and as mashable reported that he made by just following the Bush shoe throwing incident and really Apple won’t mind if someone throws shoe at Osama Bin Laden :-D .

Obama Trampoline iPhone

Obama Trampoline iPhone was the latest casualty which got denied access to App Store.

From Techcunch:

The application was a harmless game that let you select a known U.S. politician (both republicans and democrats) and have him/her jump a virtual trampoline. You could tilt to control movement, use the head to pop some balloons with the White House or the Oval Office in the background, do some acrobatic flips and shake the device to clear the scene.

Here is a gameplay video of the app :

We really didn’t find the app inappropriate in any manner, politicians were food for jokes as long was we can remember. Well Apple gave the following reason behind banning the app:

… it contains content that ridicules public figures and is in violation of Section 3.3.12 from the iPhone SDK Agreement which states:

"Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple's reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users."

So, its for users to decide whether the ban on these 2 apps were appropriate or not, we think that the approval process should be little more transparent and if they really want to keep the app store clean they should take a second look at all those fart apps running around.
