| Nokia Lands into trouble in India; Maps Application shows Kashmir as a part of Pakistan Posted: 22 Dec 2008 07:29 PM PST Nokia has landed into trouble in India due to its Maps application. According to Cellular News, people from BJP attacked a Nokia Shop as Nokia Maps shows Kashmir as a part of Pakistan. Being an Indian I know how serious this is and how it can hurt people's sentiments. Also the recent terrorists attacks in India originated from Pakistan. The angry BJP workers took Nokia cell phones from the shop and set them on fire and have given a warning of intensifying the protests if proper case is not registered against Nokia. I am sure that Nokia does not want any bad publicity in India as of now and it will take all the measures to settle this issue. But we as Indians should think rationally and aggression is not a solution to a problem. Burning of phones or torturing the shop owner is not a solution, I am sure there must be technical issue in the maps application. I have used Nokia Maps application before and the application is not that accurate and there are discrepancies. But this time Nokia needs to calm these protesters as soon as possible. |
